It seems like things always have a way of working out, right? I explained why I took a blog break last week, and this weekend was just such a great one. Sometimes, I think getting “it” out whether I ugly-cry, or share it on this site, I almost always feel better.

Friday, I surprised Jason with a picnic on the beach. We live maybe a half hour away, and rarely go. I wanted to just be with him, and not talk/stress over everything we have going on right now. We ended up at Sand Key, which had less people. I didn’t even plan to go to that way. I am sadly just directionally challenged, and that’s where we ended up. We saw the sun set, and munched on a sammich, and some salads from Whole Foods. I may have also packed some adult bevvy’s to sip, as well.

Just listening to the waves, and the wind was therapeutic for me! I am glad I planned a night out like that. I asked Jason if he wanted to go anywhere else, but it had been a long week and after completing two of his three finals in that same week, we were home and in bed by 10:30. #weresooldandtired.

We made up for it Saturday, however! We drove to Port Richey to see our good friends, Susan and David. And meet their adorable baby, Emily! Sue and David moved to Colorado right after they were married, so this was the first time we met Emily.

A group of us met at Stassi’s Italian Grill. I’ll be honest and tell you that my expectations for an Italian restaurant located in a strip mall in Pasco county were not high. I was just going for my friends. But I was so so wrong. Stassi’s was a great place! We had time before our guest of honor arrived, and so we ordered a few pitchers of sangria while we waited. A tad sweeter than I would have liked, but still very yummy.

We also ordered garlic knots, and a caprese salad to share as a group.

For dinner, I had the eggplant rollatini, which was packed with flavor and a ton of delicious ricotta cheese. I was full from sangria and knots, that I only made it to one rollatini, but can happily tell you that leftovers the next day for dinner were dee-lish! I would definitely go back the next time we are that way.

After dinner, and playing “pass the baby”, we ended back at a friends house for drinks and games {cards against humanity. always}, and didn’t get home until 2am.

Sunday, Jason and I had breakfast at The Lucky Dill. People rave about this place. I have been several times, and they have such an extensive menu. But I almost always find myself just sort of thinking my meal is so-so. It is never bad, but nothing has really wowed me either. The service is always consistently great, however.

After breakfast, we had a movie date.

Then the normal meal-prep, cleaning and boring Sunday ish took place. Nothing about the weekend was crazy, but it was the first one where I felt like me in ages. And I will take that, any day.

How was your weekend?

I think I want to see Neighbors soon. It looks good.
If I lived that close to the beach…man, I’d be there an awful lot.
I hate it when meals are just so-so. You usually end up going back and I hate spending money on food that’s not amazing.

I was in the same boat as you with the restaurant. I originally passed over it because it only got meh reviews. But my in-laws have been there many times and said they were good. And they are serious about their food.

Thanks again for taking the time to see us. It was so great!
