I always say Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, because it’s the ‘kick-off’ to the entire end of year, holiday season. But I’m starting to think this week – after Christmas, the last week of the year, is my favorite. Things have relaxed a bit, but the house is still decked out in holiday ish, and while I’m working, life has just slowed down, and I can reflect some.
On Black Friday, Jason and I actually bought ourselves each a new Kindle Fire HD, as well as new laptops, because we both needed them and found awesome deals. We also bought some house items (a new bed!), and so my expectations for Christmas gifts were low. I was okay with it, because we had just spoiled ourselves in general with items that were fun, but also needs.
So imagine my sweet surprise when Jason gave me a new pendent from Tiffany & Co! It was a very sweet gift, and I was not expecting it, at all. Truth be told, I’m horrible with misplacing
losing jewelery, and after losing the same pendent Jason not only gave me on our wedding day, but again on our one year wedding anniversary (I know, I know), I figured he would never buy me jewelery again!
I also received a few new Alex and Ani bangles from my sister, and best friend, Breaking Bad goodies (tee, and coffee mug) from Jason, and some sweet housewarming/Christmas gifts from friends who attended our Ugly Sweater Party.
This was the first year in my immediate family, we didn’t buy gifts for each other, but did a Secret Santa, instead. Of course, my sweet niece made out like a bandit! But I mean, who doesn’t want to spoil that kid?!
All in all, it was a great Christmas. I’m glad it’s over though. I feel like with Jason’s school schedule, we have to c.r.a.m. so much in during the holidays, that it almost makes it not fun – or just hard to slow down, I guess.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! xoxo
