Today, I’m teaming up with Davidson’s Safest Choice Eggs to share my tips for holiday prep, as well as our Christmas party menu.
Our fourth annual Ugly Sweater Christmas party is this coming weekend! I am beyond excited to throw our first official party in the new home. As stoked as I am, I was also a tad stressed thinking of all the things I had to have done. Our house is nowhere near 100% ready for entertaining, but it’s in a good place [and besides, everyone tells me that apparently, once you buy a home, you’ll never be done], and I’m happy with the decor.
My next ‘task’ on the party-prep list was of course the menu. It would be silly, and way too time consuming to plan a full dinner, but I wanted to create a menu that is fun, flavorful, and that everyone will remember. I also want to offer a mix of indulgent, holiday bites, as well as a few lighter, cleaned-up menu items for good balance. I’m prepping as much as I can prior to this weekend, so I’m not stuck in the kitchen all day, because I want to actually enjoy my own shindig, right?!
What I like most about cooking with Davidson’s Safest Choice is that their eggs are pasteurized, so they taste great and are safe for all our favorite egg dishes. The Safest Choice all-natural, gentle water bath pasteurization process eliminates the risk of Salmonella in eggs without changing the nutrition or flavor. So even with the indulgent plates I’m making for our par-tay, I know I am serving our guests safe eats, as well.
Make sure to visit Davidson’s Dozen Days of Nog Facebook event, live December 13 – December 24, as your central hub to grab planning tips, snag recipes, and get advice for any holiday prep you may have from other foodies (like me! I’m there all week offering up any advice I have). You can also post your recipe directly on the #SafeNog page any time and one participant’s recipe could be added to the SafeEggs.com Recipe Center!
So, what’s on the menu at Casa de Crews?
Drinks: We’ve told guests to BYOB, but we’re offering a few signature drinks, that I’m really excited about!
+ Cranberry and Prosecco Mimosas – these are easy, and I can set all the ingredients out for our guests to mix themselves. Mimosas aren’t just for brunch, in my opinion. But then again, I never think prosecco is a bad idea any time of the day…
+ Hot Chocolate Eggnog with Eggnog Whipped Cream – Because what’s a holiday party without the eggnog?! But this isn’t just any eggnog, you guys; hello, hot chocolate.
+ Spinach and Feta Puff Pastry Bites – I plan to prep these Friday, and re-heat on Saturday right before guests arrive. I just know these pastry bites will be a huge hit!
+Slow-Cooker Bacon Jam – and I already made this last week! I am w.i.n.n.i.n.g at this whole prep-ahead thing. For once.
+ Best Ever French Onion Dip – We love French Onion Dip in our house! I love that this version is homemade, less processed and so good.
…and I’ll allow the dip to chill for several hours before making a veggie tray (like this one).
Sweet Treats: I mean let’s be real, you can’t have a Christmas party without the sweets!
+ Traditional Rolled Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing Recipe – already prepped the dough, and it is just waiting in the freezer for me. I prepared it this weekend using Davidson’s Safest Choice eggs, and shared it on my Instagram (duh).
+ we also plan to have a smores set-up in our backyard, because A) It’s fun B) It gave Jason a reason to finally buy a fire pit 😉
We are just one week away from Christmas Eve, ya’ll! While that isn’t much time, it is still plenty of time to stay on top of your holiday game, allowing you to also enjoy the season with loved ones.
What is on your menu this holiday season?
