Last year, after my niece was born, we decided as a family, we’d stop buying gifts for one another. We now do a Secret Santa (by drawing names at Thanksgiving) and spoil the baby (who can now sing her ABC’s these days. Makes me so sad and proud at the same time #wheredidmybabyniecego?). And of course with my in-laws, the kiddos are the only ones, we buy gifts for as well.
While it makes sense as we get older, I really do enjoy gifting others this time of year – it doesn’t have to be anything crazy, or expensive. Just a little token to show I am thinking of you. And since I feel like we’re all SO busy, taking the time to create homemade gifts, or baskets can mean a lot. I mean honestly, even just sending a card is something, because the amount of time it takes to address all those envelopes and write a little note, is time consuming in and of itself, isn’t it? I tell myself every year, that I am so done with cards, but then I re-order because I know I love getting mail this time of year, myself.
We have new neighbors renting the house next door to us. They’re an older couple, and seem very nice and not overly intruding (we all have that one neighbor. I digress), and I can think of no better way to wish them a Happy Holiday than with a little basket full of small goodies!
Since Christmas is in THREE DAYS, I don’t have a ton of time to craft much, but I think a little thought doesn’t need to be over the top, either.
I snagged a festive basket on sale at a local craft store, along with a jar of cookie mix and fun tissue paper for said basket all for under $10! I thought a nice addition to my simple gift basket, would be a variety of Bigelow Tea for our neighbors to choose from (and pair with their cookie mix), with a mug to go with!
As a kid, I always drank black tea with my mom, and grandma; that was loaded with lots of milk and sugar. As an adult, it’s not all that enjoyable with milk and sugar (plus, we try and stay away from processed sugar at Casa de Crews in general).
After completing several rounds of the Whole 30, I re-discovered tea, specifically flavored teas, and I haven’t looked back. There are so many more options than I remember as a child, and with good flavor, means I don’t need to add anything to it, which also makes me happy.
My own current fave is the Bigelow Tea Salted Caramel, and I think it’s a perfect drink for the holiday season to unwind. Last week, I was addressing all those Christmas cards while sipping a cup of Salted Caramel. I sent sixty cards, ya’ll. Why do I do this to myself? #buttheyresofestive
So I made sure to add my current favorite, plus a box of Bigelow Tea Constant Comment – I like to offer options to people, because you never know what they’ll like. Find your favorite Bigelow Tea at Walmart, and other retailers in your area!
This basket took me all of twenty minutes, and was under $15.00. How can I beat it? Plus I get to give a little holiday cheer (and tasty tea) in a festive display!
