Life has been b.u.s.y. and my poor blog has been a tad neglected during it all. To make up for it, I thought I’d share a little life update and some random thoughts. You’re welcome. Haha.
+ I have had a terrible head cold for six days now. I was suppose to run the Gasparilla 5k last Saturday with husband and friends, but alas I felt so gunky. “Gunky” is the word we use when we don’t feel good. I went down there and have every intention of running, but then decided it would be best if I didn’t. I made the right decision. On Sunday, I lost my voice completely, and have had various symptoms throughout the week, so that’s been fun #sarcasm.
I’ve made myself several hot toddys to soothe my sad little soul. It’s pretty much the easiest cocktail to make. Will it cure you? Nah…but it does help. I usually make a cup of tea with a splash of lemon, honey and
Jason’s whiskey. That’ all it takes….but I did stumble upon Becky’s recipe, and I just love her photography, so…enjoy.
+ The hunt for the perfect dining room table continues. With a husband in law school, it makes decorating our home a challenge. Jason tells me to “do what you want”, but then he has an opinion (as he should! It’s his home too), and I feel like I can’t really make these purchases without him. The table I lusted over for m.o.n.t.h.s. from Crate and Barrel looked kind of cheapy in person – whichhhhh for the price, I’d rather not go there. So now I’ve made it a weekend task (was supposed to be last weekend, but since I felt like death, a Gilmore Girls marathon it was). We are legit adults, my friends.
+ I have been really bad about meal planning. It kind of started last fall when we started taking our nephew on weekends. Then came the holidays, and I have been working from home the majority of 2016. But I miss the stability of planning my meals, and feeling prepared. I went to Michael’s and bought a little meal planning notebook for $4.00 – you can’t beat that. If I started sharing meal plans again, would you read it? I like to read them from other blogs, but sometimes they also feel like a way to pimp out one another’s friends on the bigger blogs I follow – which I get from a blog/business standpoint, but from a normal person’s view, I don’t care for it. So…would you be interested in those posts again on Casa de Crews, or not so much?
+ Last week, we went to Ikea to
eat meatballs peruse, and snagged a plant stand – I am hellbent on growing my own herbs. I feel like I waste a lot of money on fresh basil, cilantro, rosemary, when I could probably do this myself. I can’t keep plants alive to save my life, but luckily I have a patient husband who can help me. Also, am I a legit adult now? Like, I am for real excited about attempting to grow my own herbs?!
+ I can’t believe the Oscars are already on Sunday. Then again, I can’t believe it’s already March, pretty much! I’m digging this cocktail roundup on the Sunday Supper site – Oscar Party Cocktails Inspired by 2016 Best Picture Nominees. The Life on Mars cocktail is calling my name. Any films you’re rooting for? I’ve seen most of them – except Brooklyn, which is on the list to see.
