Ohhhh, Florida. I feel like we had two good weeks of spring weather at the beginning of March (so technically before spring had even sprung), and now it’s just hot, and muggy. I’m not even exaggerating – today’s temperature in Tampa calls for a high of 89.
Staying hydrated definitely helps survive these crazy temps. And sadly, by the time actual summer rolls around, it will feel like 100+. So really people, this is our spring, and I plan to embrace it before it’s unbearable and I don’t want to leave my air-conditioned house.
We do have a filtered water line in our fridge, but when we’re active outside, we make sure to hydrate with Nestlé® Pure Life® Water. Because Nestlé Pure Life is committed to delivering pure, great-tasting water, every drop in every bottle of Nestlé Pure Life is filtered through a 12-step quality process. This allows for great taste, with a unique blend of minerals. It’s our go-to bottled water, and you really can’t beat the price. We picked up our last case of 35 bottles, which now comes with 40 bottles, so technically we received an extra 5 bottles for the same price #holla.
Since Jason is currently unemployed (bar exam results are due next week!!!!), we have way more free time than we even know what to do with, as a couple. We’re also on a strict budget, so as much as I love dining out, we’re trying to limit that to just once a week.
I’ll be honest and say that it’s very easy for me to default to dining out for date night. I mean, someone else bought the groceries, cooked the meal, and will do the dishes. But budget aside, it’s too easy to dine out for date night. Does that make sense? I love all the restaurants we have in Tampa Bay, but it’s also a crutch, and within in our comfort zone.
Trying to get out more and enjoy the weather ::ahem:: we’re into packing a soft side cooler or picnic basket, and heading to the beach to watch the sunset, or the park to people watch, and walk.
I have a really nice picnic basket that my parents gave us last year, and it’s perfect for just the two of us (and includes everything, even a blanket), but anything as simple as a soft side cooler will work. Don’t feel like you must have a legit looking basket to enjoy the weather. It’s all about what’s in the basket (or cooler!), and who you’re sharing it with.
After a handful of fun picnics under my belt, I feel like I can pack one like a pro. If I can, anyone can.
My fave recipes to pack for a picnic: My Kale Grapefruit Salad, or mason jar salads. Hummus + veggies, fresh fruit, this sammie (though for our last picnic, I used regular bread – still so good), pretzel chips, or popcorn. And always something sweet. I also recommend at least one small bag for trash, and extra napkins.
Getting outside together is currently my favorite way to connect with Jason. Once he is finally able to practice law, I know I won’t see him as much and will miss him like cray-zay. So I’m trying to cram as much time in with him, before our life turns busy once again.
