Every time I think life is going to slow down, and I can get into a legit routine, something comes up. I don’t know why I think this is ever going to change. Something always comes up, doesn’t it?
I made it yoga twice this week, and took a decent long walk in my neighborhood. Even though that probably doesn’t sound like much, things have been so busy that fitting in two classes, and a walk in one week is a very big deal for me – and it’s only Wednesday!
This coming weekend, we’re celebrating my youngest sister’s birthday on Friday, and the bestie’s husband’s on Saturday (p.s. my best friend is now a married lady!!!! I digress), which calls for all the soirées. Except nothing derails me more from a good week of eating, and exercising than two parties in two nights. Womp.
If I’m having a bevvy with liquor, I prefer vodka over anything else, and my favorite cocktail to enjoy on the weekend is a Moscow Mule. But ginger beer always concerns me. There’s nothing wrong with it, but have two Moscow Mules, and I’ve consumed more sugar than I need from a cocktail, right? I’ve tried diet ginger beer, but it always tastes very diet-y, which ruins the fun that is, sipping from a copper mug. So most of the time, I end up ordering a Vodka Soda, which is also delish but seems kind of boring when you’re out celebrating birthdays, right?
Enter Zevia Ginger Ale! Zevia believes health and balance is key to a happy life, with bubbles – my kind of bevvy. They feel strongly about reducing sugar consumption, using clean ingredients and creating delicious and refreshing beverages.
I love to replace ginger beer for Zevia’s Ginger Ale (find Zevia near you), with LOTS of fresh-squeezed lime juice. I don’t feel so bad about enjoying a cocktail (or two), and I’m not stressing over sugar, so I can enjoy myself more.
- ½ oz. lime juice
- 2 oz. vodka
- 4-6 oz. Zevia Ginger Ale
- 1-2 lime slices, for garnish
- Squeeze lime juice into a copper mug (honestly, any glass will do!)
- Add 2 or 3 ice cubes, then add vodka.
- Top with Zevia Ginger Ale.
The next low-cal, low-sugar cocktail I’d like to make includes Zevia’s Lemon-Lime Twist, with a splash of vodka, muddled raspberries, and fresh citrus. I don’t really know who I’ve become that I’m dreaming up cocktails with muddled berries, but I kind of like it.
