It feels odd to write 2015 in a post title, but there it is. My 31st birthday was a wonderful one; food,
too many drinks, and lots of time with friends, and family. So far, for the first weekend of the new year, I’ve kept my ‘goal’ of balancing busy, fun, and responsibility.
I had to work on Friday, my actual birthday [boo], but went straight from the office to downtown Dunedin to celebrate with friends. A few of us started with dinner at Casa Tina.
I had only been once before, and the last time was packed. So we made a reservation, and wouldn’t you know there was no need, as they’ve since expanded and we had no wait. The food was delish, and I recommend the sangria before 7pm to snag the Happy Hour price [$4]. I ordered chicken tacos, which were packed with flavor – but I don’t suggest the soft shell because they were messy to eat. I’m a taco champ though, and powered through, naturally.
Post dinner, more friends joined us at Kelly’s for cocktails [we went to Kelly’s for brunch and bloody marys/mimosas for my 28th birthday, and that was a wonderful time]. I started with the Margarita Martini on Friday night. It was s.t.r.o.n.g. and I switched to beer after that. I mean, I am 31 now and can’t hang like I used to; that’s just fine by me, however. thankyouverymuch.
We also stopped at the Dunedin Brewery, and the Dunedin House of Beer before calling it a night. It was a chill evening, where our friends came and went, the drinks flowed, and we played Jenga. It was the best way I could welcome another year!
On Saturday, Jason smoked a pork roast in our new fire pit for a BBQ. It was seriously ah-mazing, my friends! My family came over, where we chowed down, watched football, spent time with my sweet niece, and my mom gave me another Alex and Ani bracelet. I’m up to four now. I love that my lil’ collection is growing.
Sunday called for a bit of ‘work’ with my new assistant. I have another wedding to coordinate next weekend, and wanted to finalize the day with her. We decided wine at 11am on a Sunday was the perfect way to conduct business. I think my new assistant is going to work out jussst fine.
Lastly, this may not have anything to do with well, anything but I have been lusting over this Oh Joy! pitcher from Target [even made my 2014 Christmas Wish List], but could never bring myself to spend $25 for a pitcher…until I found it on clearance for $12.50! Happy Birthday to meeeee.
‘Twas a good weekend my friends. If this weekend’s vibe is any indication of how this year is going to be, then I am more than excited to see where it takes me!
How was your weekend?
