I’m not the biggest sweets person. I tend to crave more salty, or savory treats. But when I do eat sweets, or candy, I find myself wanting more. I know it’s a sugar demon, but sometimes it’s hard to get off the ride!
This time of year especially. With Halloween next week, and then Thanksgiving, and Christmas, it’s way easy to get caught up on the sugar train. But you can totally get your fix without compromising your daily intake of sugar!
As a [new] member to the Clean Plate Club with Stonyfield, I received several sweet samples of Unreal candies to create a recipe with – Unreal is a food company founded by two teenage brothers on a mission to unjunk the world. Their mission is to reinvent America’s favorite candy using the best tasting, 100% real, non-GMO, organic ingredients, with less sugar. What I liked most about the Unreal candies were that I didn’t feel like I was missing out with ‘healthy’ candy. Don’t get me wrong, the glutton in me, wanted to ‘taste test’ more than I needed, but it wasn’t like I was on a sugar high looking for my next fix.
Sooooooooo, what did I come up with? I personally love parfaits, and you can search online for all kinds of fun Halloween parfaits with brownies, candy, and whipped cream. I wanted to simplify my version, and see if it satisfied my sweet tooth just the same or not.

I opted to make my flourless almond cake, with Stonyfield Smooth and Creamy, and my Unreal candies. I love the smooth and creamy yogurt, because it isn’t too thick, which is a good thing for a treat like this. My almond cake is naturally sweetened with honey, and vanilla. If you don’t have all the ingredients on hand for the almond cake, truly any cake will do. To keep it light, and less sugar, I’d recommend an angel food cake.
This treat did not disappoint! I thought maybe I made a mistake by using plain yogurt, over flavored, but it was the perfect balance against the cake, and candies. It was cold, creamy, and sweet. I didn’t feel the need to go back for more, and after one serving I was one happy gal.
- 1 cup cake of choice, cubed
- 1 cup Stonyfield Smooth and Creamy Yogurt
- 1/2 cup unreal candy coated milk chocolates
- unreal peanut butter cups, for garnish (optional)
- Layer each glass in the following order: 1/4 cup yogurt, 1/4 cup cake, and sprinkle with candies. Enjoy immediately!
