As I type this post (on Wednesday night), I am watching a ridiculously cheesy Hallmark holiday flick. They’re so bad, and yet I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. I can’t even help it. You know there is always a happy ending, and you get the chills from the cheesy good vibes.
I no longer work in an office – I either work from home, or travel to different client offices, so I don’t have a work ‘family’ anymore, which means I miss the holiday hubbub that comes with that; office potlucks, Secret Santa, etc.
Soooo, to get that little cheesy fix like with a Hallmark or Lifetime movie, tonight’s monthly supper club at Casa de Crews, will include a gift exchange (kind of like White Elephant, but without gag gifts)! I love buying gifts for people. I don’t necessarily need a gift back, but for gift exchanges’ like this, there is nothing that bums me out more, than bringing what I think is a quality gift, and then getting stuck with something like a jello mold shaped like a gator (true story, that totally happened to me one year).
These monthly supper clubs with my girls mean so much to me, and I want to make sure we all end Friday-eve enjoying tasty appetizers, a drink
or three, and get to leave with something we love.
We opted to set the price point at $20 – $25, and to bring a gift you’d love for yourself. Those were the only two rules for our first gift exchange together.
I can’t talk about this gift exchange, without sharing a few fun ideas, right? These are all gifts I’d buy for myself, as treats for me, and think most of my girlfriends would feel the same!
Gift Cards: You can never go wrong. Maybe a cute mug, and a coffee shop gift card. A nail salon, Target, etc.
Candles: You can always find the 3-wick candles on sale this time of year.
Bath Goodies: I love bath bombs, and other overpriced ish like this. Bath goodies are things I rarely splurge on for myself, but I love to receive!
Jewelry: Inexpensive costume jewelry like this is always fun.
Wine: Festive glassware, bottles of wine, bags for said wine – these are all good in my book!
Coffee: Mugs, gift cards, specialty coffee beans – spoil your friend!
Stationary: I love buying notepads. And anything from Ashley Brooke Designs always wins in my book.
