I love to entertain, and have friends, and family over (as if you didn’t already know this). I used to enjoy doing it all so guests could just relax and enjoy their time, but then I realized A) It’s too much work on my own B) When I go to a friend’s house, I love to bring a dish – and so do my friends!
A few weeks ago, our neighbors, Sam and Audrey, hosted a pool party to celebrate Aud’s #dirtythirty! It was a chill time, with lots of yummy bites, a tasty Sneaky Tiki Rum Punch, and was so much fun! I love that we have lucked out with these two so close to us (and their little fur-babes, too).
Chips y salsa were already on their menu, so my homemade blender salsa, the perfect light app for something like a pool party was not an option. But a tasty, creamy Avocado Hummus with lightly grilled pita was!
Once I realized how easy it was to make your own hummus, I haven’t looked back. All you need is a good food processor (I bought this one for my sister last Christmas, and ended up ordering one for myself, ha), a can of chickpeas, and a few other ingredients. It’s so much less expensive than buying the prepared kind.
I took pita bread from the bakery at my grocery store, cut them in fourths, and threw them in the grill pan for just a few minutes. They taste homemade, but…they’re not.
