The first year Jason and I were dating, he took me to a fancy schmancy (read: overpriced) dinner. I thought that was the kind of Vday I always wanted….until I knew how much he paid and the food wasn’t worth the hype.
Since that first Valentine’s Day date (um….EIGHT years ago! Time flies, kids), we opt for a more simple kind of Valentine’s Day. Sometimes we go out, and have a fun date. This year, we’re planning to attend a hockey game, which may not sound romantic to you, but since our time is always limited with a husband in law school, we like to find things to do that we don’t normally have a chance to.
Jason has been killing it all week – working, classes, and staying in the library until 11pm each night, to get a presentation done. So tonight, we’re staying in and I have a fancy schmancy dinner planned for home.
You know who else tends to think Valentine’s dinner out can be overrated, and overpriced? Amber, and Lauren. So when Amber asked me to contribute a dessert recipe to her styled shoot, that would compliment Lauren’s delicious meal, I knew just what to make: a Brownie Berry Trifle. It’s simple, looks elegant, and is insanely tasty. If I do say so myself!
It’s so easy to have a nice dinner at home for Vday without going crazy. Make sure to visit Amber’s site (she’s insanely talented!) to snag decor ideas for a Valentine’s Date Night In.
Visit Lauren’s blog from Every Last Detail to get more deets, the full menu, more photos, and well, every last detail, to enjoy your Valentine’s night in.
