If you’ve been around Casa de Crews long enough, you know I love attending shows at the Straz Center, downtown. The last musical I attended, Cinderella, was absolutely amazing and is my all-time favorite fairy-tale! My second favorite fairy-tale is Beauty and the Beast. And as far as muscials go, I’d have to say Beauty and the Beast is my all time favorite fairy-tale musical! I may really be breaking it down here, but when you love Broadway shows, there are so many layers, aren’t there?
…but how could Beauty and the Beast not be my all-time favorite fairy-tale musical with songs that we all still sing years, and years, and years after the movie came out (1993 to be exact – when did I get old? I digress). This classic musical love story is filled with unforgettable characters, lavish sets and costumes, and dazzling production numbers including “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song. Experience the romance and enchantment of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast!
And all our old friends are back, and on stage; Belle’s Papa, Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Chip, of course Belle and Beast, plus everyone else you know and love, including Gaston, who you probably don’t like, but his character was the most entertaining in last night’s show – I loved it. Seeing Beauty and the Beast live on stage was an experience I won’t soon forget. It was like watching the movie at home, but with oh you know 2600 of your closest friends to see it with, haha.
It was so fun seeing guests of all ages at this show, and knowing that this classic is a story passed down to new generations. I will say though, while I didn’t think Beast was all that scary (honestly, he seemed kind of wimpy to me), he may scare little ones a bit; a little boy behind me at last night’s show cried every time Beast was ‘mad’, though he laughed at all the funny parts, so he survived :)The costumes were spectacular – my favorite scene would have to be at dinner when the servants of Beast’s castle sang, Be Our Guest – even the silverware was dressed up! It was a great time.
Growing up, my sisters and I watched the movie on VHS over, and over again. So it only seemed fitting to take them with me to see this magical show. They were MY guests <—- I had to. We had a great time reminiscing, and singing along. It really felt like this show was the best of both worlds; with the best parts of the movie, and the best parts of a Broadway show.
If you’re in Tampa, please do yourself a favor and see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast on Broadway! The show will run until this Sunday, May 10, 2015 in the Morsani Hall (treat your mom to this show this weekend! I’m sure she’d love it). Purchase tickets, here.
What is your all time favorite Broadway musical?

It was a great show, Neely!
What a great show. I too love Beauty and the Beast!! I would have loved to have seen it. I also would love to see Cinderella which I also haven’t seen on the stage. Oh and Cinderella is totally my favorite Disney Character.
I so wish that I could have seen this! It was bad timing for me. Beauty and the Beast was one of my favorite Disney movies when I was younger. It looks like it was fantastic.
You would have loved it!
What a great show! I think it’s sweet the little boy behind you cried – they get so into it – glad he laughed too or the poor mom might have scared him for life! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston
