This time, two weeks ago, my friends and I were driving to Miami filled with excitement, ready to cruise the sea, drink fruity drinks, and just unwind. We had such a great time, and I honestly don’t think I have ever been so damn sad to come back to reality. I don’t know if it was because we had an entire week away from the office, or because we all got along so well, or if it was due to day drinking, buffet eating, and naps…? Regardless, it was a blast, and I am already itching to plan the next cruise!
I know some people don’t care for cruises, and I totally get it. I personally like cruising, because I literally do not have to do anything, and because we live in Florida, we have several ports that are only a few hours away and allow us to start our vacation, ASAP.
This was the first time we cruised with Royal Caribbean (RC). Our previous crusies were with Carnival. I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t sail with Carnival again. They are inexpensive for a reason, and in my opinion, you get what you pay for. That’s about the nicest way I can say that.
Our ship, The Majesty of the Seas, stopped in Nassau, Coco Cay. and Key West. Jason and I opted to stay on the ship the day we were docked in Coco Cay and took the best nap before reading poolside until our friends came back for dinner. Have I mentioned, I want to be back on vacation?!
Day 1: Port of Miami – We were in VACATION mode, and made to celebrate properly on night 1. We had a great time, but by 10pm, we were all ready for bed. Free champagne in each of our rooms, thanks to our travel agent (if you need a good one, let me know!), tasty margaritas, and photos in which I smile like a goon. Not shown: we hit up the arcade and had an impromptu air hockey tournament.
Day 2: Nassau, Bahamas – St. Patrick’s Day! A beautiful day, that wasn’t too hot – until we walked over a mile up a hill on a narrow sidewalk looking for a rum distillery we never found. We walked down the hill once we realized we were getting father away from the touristy area, and found ourselves upon a straw market, and then of course Senor Frogs, because #obligatory. My husband bought a seashell from a local, and he asked if Jason needed anything else in a suggestive tone that makes me laugh (I assume he was referring to ganga but I am not 100% sure, since Jason legit only bought a $5 shell that now has a funny story as it sits in our dining room). The best friend and I bought matching Alex and Ani bangles. Lots, and lots of walking. The day we were most tired on the ship.
Day 3: Coco Cay, Bahamas – Jason and I stayed behind and took a glorious nap, ate a late lunch together, read pool-side, and hit up the casino where I lost $19.96. Michael Jackson trivia was played that evening, and we people watched as folks (and my husband) sang karaoke. More drinks were consumed.
Day 4: Key West, Florida, USA – We all six had Left Shark shirts with different captions that we wore around KW. Um, I don’t do things like this, my friends…unless, the whole group is on board. It was actually pretty funny and a few people stopped to ask what they meant. We walked from the port to the Southernmost Point (1.5 miles – which is why I’m wearing sneakers. I hate sneakers, and felt like a dorky-ass tourist, just so you know. Shark shirts, and sneakers. All I needed was a fanny-pack to complete the look). We stopped at Fat Tuesday, as we began our walk, and then on the way back, stopped at several more bars, and got refills from Fat Tuesday’s. Other spots we had a drink at: The Rum Bar, Sloppy Joe’s, The Lazy Gecko. More Alex and Ani bracelets for all three girls from Artisan’s Jewelry and Gifts.
…have I mentioned we had the best time?!
Do you have a favorite vacation? Tell me!
Looks like you had a fabulous time!
Great post!! I am so glad you had a wonderful trip. I love matching shirts, and those are hilarious. I love Senor Frogs too! We ate there on our “weddingmoon” in Nassau, so it holds a special place in my heart.
Sound like so much fun! I have been on a cruise and I’ll really kicking myself that we never went while living in Florida. OMG the left shark shirts!! Love it!
The left shark shirts were totally my husband’s idea! We seriously had so much fun!!
We have been wanting to go on another cruise, but this time with RC. What is wrong with sneakers? What do you normally wear, flip flops? I wear sneakers a lot now because of my foot/leg injuries. Flip flops just are not supportive enough. I HATE Senor Frogs. I also have no idea wth Left Shark is. I looks like you had a great time! I hope I will see you 4/12 at the Yelp party. 🙂
I am a flip flop/sandal girl alllll the way! But my feet hurt a lot after Nassau, that come Key West I had to wear sneakers – you’re right that they do provide better support, I just hate wearing them! LOL. Left Shark is from the Katy Perry halftime show at the Super Bowl 🙂
I like that so much is already on the ship but you can still see and do stuff off the ship too. Looks lie a blast and a fun group.
We did so much off the ship, that I wished we had an extra day to be on ship to discover, but all in all we had a seriously great time!
This would be so much fun! I’ve always wanted to go on a cruise.
We went to Disney World during Spring Break.
They are SO fun!
Looks like you had a blast! Did you know I have NEVER been on a cruise?!?!
Um, we need to change this! Blogger cruise? LOL…It would be SO fun!
You guys had an awesome spring break, too!! This looks like so much fun, I now want to book a cruise ha!
I love cruises – you get to see and do so much and the food is always amazing!! xo, Biana – BlovedBoston
Exactly!
Looks like a great trip!
I hate Senor Frogs. Like, a lot. LOL
I love Key West, I’ve been there eight times but the last time was almost 8 years ago!
Oh how I love Senor Frogs!!! Looks like an amazing time was had! 🙂
