Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 large Russet potatoes, sliced into 1/3-inch thick sticks
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil - or avocado (or use nonstick cooking spray for less fat)
  • homemade french fries seasoning

homemade french fries seasoning:

  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat air fryer to 375℉.
  • Scrub and dry Russet potatoes. Slice into 1/3-inch thick sticks.
  • Add sliced potato sticks to a large mixing bowl and cover with cold water. Soak for 15-30 minutes, up to overnight if needed for advance prep.
  • Rinse and drain potatoes and pat dry.
  • Toss potatoes in oil or cooking spray and toss to combine with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika.
  • Place the potatoes in the air fryer basket in a single layer so that the potatoes are not touching. You may have to work in batches depending on the size of your basket. Air fry at 375℉ for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping halfway, or until crispy*

Notes

*Check at around 10 minutes and flip and check for doneness until crispy for another 5-10 minutes. Cook times can vary depending on your specific air fryer.
OTHER HOMEMADE FRY SEASONING COMBOS TO TRY
The recipe card below is my go-to homemade fry seasoning for everyday fries but if you want to play with the flavors, here are few more spice combos to try:
  • Ranch. Add dried dill and onion powder to my base seasoning.
  • Seasoning Salt. Add seasoning salt for max flavor! I would use this as my only seasoning and forgo my base seasoning recipe.
  • Cajun. Toss your fries with Cajun seasoning spice blend for a kick of heat with added smoked paprika and Italian seasoning.
  • Parmesan Truffle. Use truffle salt and omit the salt from my base seasoning and top with freshly grated Parmesan cheese after cooking, before serving.
HOW TO REHEAT FRENCH FRIES IN AIR FRYER:
Reheat leftover French fries at 375 degrees F for 3-5 minutes until crispy again. I don’t recommend using the microwave unless you want leftover fries that are soggy (I know you don’t!)
