pear butter made in the slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 5 medium pears, peeled, cored and cubed - Bartlett or Bosc suggested
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  • To your slow-cooker add diced pears, lemon juice, honey, cinnamon, cinnamon sticks and a pinch of salt. Mix to combine and cover with lid. Cook on HIGH 4 hours, stirring halfway.
  • Uncover, stir in vanilla extract and remove cinnamon sticks. Puree with an immersion blender, or food processor.
  • Cook on HIGH uncovered 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until pear butter has thickened.

Notes

one batch makes approximately ~2 cups (30ish tablespoons)
