Ingredients

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, stems trimmed and halved - or 12-ounces frozen strawberries, thawed
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil sprigs - plus more for garnish
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons honey - or simple syrup
  • 3/4 cup (6 ounces) tequila - clear (blanco) suggested
  • 1/4 cup (2 ounces) orange liqueur like Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or Triple sec

Instructions

  • To a blender add 1 pint fresh strawberries, 1/4 cup fresh basil, juice of 1 lime, and honey. Blend until pureed.
  • To a pitcher, combine strawberry puree, 3/4 cup tequila and 1/4 cup orange liqueur. Stir and mix well.
  • Pour over ice when ready to serve. Garnish with extra basil if desired.

Notes

  • If making a pitcher of mocktails: omit tequila and orange liqueur and sub with 12-ounces of your favorite sparkling water.
  • Pitcher can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator. If making ahead of time, when ready to serve, stir pitcher and immediately pour over ice.
To make single serve style:
  • Margarita: Place 2-3 tablespoons strawberry puree, 1.5 ounces (3 tbsp) tequila, 1 ounce (2 tbsp) orange liqueur, and 1 tbsp lime juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for 10 seconds, and then strain into a prepared cocktail glass. Garnish with extra basil if desired.
  • Mocktail: Place 2-3 tablespoons strawberry puree, 4 ounces sparkling water of choice, and 1 tbsp lime juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake for 10 seconds, and then strain into a prepared cocktail glass. Garnish with extra basil if desired.
