homemade apple butter made in the slow cooker

This easy Slow Cooker Apple Butter is made with just 4 ingredients: apples, honey, cinnamon, and apple cider. No refined sugar, just cozy fall flavor!

Ingredients

  • 5 red apples, cored and diced - optional to peel
  • ⅔ cup apple cider
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 1 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1-2 cinnamon sticks - optional

Instructions

  • To your slow-cooker, add chopped apples, apple cider, honey, cinnamon and cinnamon sticks (if using). Cover, and cook on HIGH 4 hours or LOW for 10 hours, stirring halfway through cook time.
  • Uncover. Remove cinnamon sticks and puree with an immersion blender, or food processor*
  • Cook on LOW uncovered 30 minutes to 1- hour, stirring occasionally, until thick. Will make about 2 cups (30ish tbsp).

Notes

I like Honeycrisp, Fuji, Gala, or Cosmic Crisp for this recipe
*if using food processor: allow apple butter to cool slightly before transferring to blend
