These creamy Apple Pie Overnight Oats combine Greek yogurt, apple butter (or applesauce), fresh apples, and cinnamon for an easy, protein-packed breakfast or snack.

I love prepping overnight oats for a quick grab-and-go breakfast or snack. This version has all the cozy flavors of apple pie, which happens to be one of my favorite things about fall!
I like using a batch of my homemade slow cooker apple butter for extra flavor, but store-bought apple butter or applesauce works just as well. A little Greek yogurt makes these apple pie overnight oats extra creamy while adding some protein to keep you satisfied.
Ingredients for apple pie overnight oats
These ingredients are a great base for just about any overnight oats recipe! You can easily swap the apple pie flavors for other mix-ins like pumpkin butter, fig butter, pear butter, applesauce, or your favorite jam. Feel free to get creative!

- Rolled oats: Old-fashioned rolled oats work best for overnight oatmeal. They’re naturally gluten-free, but look for certified gluten-free oats if needed.
- Milk: I use unsweetened almond milk, but any dairy or plant-based milk works. The liquid softens the oats overnight without cooking.
- Greek yogurt: Adds extra creaminess and a little protein. Use your favorite dairy-free yogurt if needed.
- Apple butter: Gives these oats their cozy, concentrated apple pie flavor. I love using my homemade slow cooker apple butter, but store-bought works just as well.
- Chopped apple: Adds fresh apple flavor, fiber, and a little crunch throughout the creamy oats. Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Gala are great options.
- Spices: Cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice bring those classic apple pie flavors together.
- Optional toppings: Extra chopped apples, cinnamon, chopped pecans, chia seeds, or a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
Can I use applesauce instead of apple butter?
Absolutely! Unsweetened applesauce works well in these overnight oats with apple. Apple butter has a deeper, more concentrated flavor from cooking down the apples with spices, while applesauce gives you a lighter, fresher apple flavor.
If using applesauce, I recommend adding a little extra cinnamon or apple pie spice to bring out that cozy apple pie flavor. You can also add a drizzle of maple syrup or honey if you’d like a little more sweetness.
Can I make these overnight oats dairy-free?
Yes! Swap the Greek yogurt for your favorite coconut or almond milk yogurt and use any dairy-free milk you like.
How to Make Apple Pie Overnight Oats
These apple pie overnight oats come together in about 5 minutes, making them perfect for a quick grab-and-go breakfast or 3 PM snack. No cooking required! The rolled oats just need time to absorb the liquid and soften in the fridge. I prefer prepping them the night before, but they’ll be ready in as little as 2 hours.

- Combine: Stir all ingredients together in a jar or bowl.
- Refrigerate: Cover and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Serve: Stir well, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy!
Quick tip: If your oats are thicker than you like after chilling, stir in a splash of almond milk until you reach your preferred consistency.
Storage & Meal Prep
These apple pie overnight oats are perfect for prepping a few jars ahead of time for easy breakfasts or afternoon snacks throughout the week.

- To store: Keep in individual jars or airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. The oats will continue to soften as they sit.
- To serve: Enjoy cold straight from the fridge, or warm in the microwave for 30–60 seconds. Add a splash of almond milk to loosen the oats if they’ve thickened.
- Meal prep tip: Prep a few jars at once, but save extra toppings like pecans or chia seeds until just before serving for the best texture

This is one of my favorite apple pie overnight oats. They have such good flavor. I didn’t have apple butter on hand, but applesauce works well. I do add some syrup in for a more sweeter taste (I’ve even had apple infused syrup and tried that once and it is so good in these). The yogurt makes it so creamy too!
Love the idea of adding in syrup! Glad you liked this, Taylor!
