They’re creamy, lightly sweet, and filled with cozy fall flavor — like apple pie in breakfast form. Made with Greek yogurt, apples and cinnamon, this easy overnight oats recipe is perfect for meal prep or busy mornings. And if you love this flavor combo, you’ll want to try my Maple Chai Overnight Oats next; another cozy, make-ahead breakfast you’ll look forward to all week.

Ingredients for these oats
The ingredients below are a great base recipe for any overnight oats recipe you try. You can easily swap out the apple pie flavor for other mix-ins like pumpkin butter, fig butter, jams, etc. Feel free to get creative!
- rolled oats: naturally gluten-free. the base of this recipe.
- milk: liquid to “cook” the oats. I use almond milk but any milk will do.
- Greek yogurt: Adds a creamy texture and extra protein.
- apple butter: gives that apple pie flavor. It’s so easy to make a batch in the crockpot, but store-bought also works.
- chopped apple: for texture, fiber and fresh apple flavor.
- spices: cinnamon, nutmeg and all spice
- toppings: chopped apples and cinnamon, pecans, chia seeds, honey (optional)
Can I use regular applesauce instead of apple butter?
Yes! Apple butter adds a deeper, caramelized apple flavor, but unsweetened applesauce works in a pinch- just know it’ll be a little lighter in flavor, but still delicious!
Notes / Substitutions:
- Yogurt: Swap for coconut/almond yogurt for vegan option.
- Milk: Any plant-based milk works.
- Sweetener: Add a drizzle of maple syrup or honey if desired.

how to prep this make-ahead breakfast
These apple and cinnamon overnight oats come together in literally 5 minutes. They need at least two-hours to “cook”, which just means the rolled oats need time to absorb the liquid. You can grab and go for a quick breakfast or 3pm snack. This jar hits with its apple pie flavors anytime of the day!
- Combine the base: In a jar or bowl, mix oats, almond milk, Greek yogurt, apple butter, chopped apple and cinnamon until fully combined.
- Refrigerate: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Serve: Stir well in the morning. Add optional toppings as desired.
Storage & Meal Prep
- to serve: Enjoy cold or warm with 30–60 sec in microwave + splash of almond milk
- to store: 4 days in an airtight container

This is one of my favorite apple pie overnight oats. They have such good flavor. I didn’t have apple butter on hand, but applesauce works well. I do add some syrup in for a more sweeter taste (I’ve even had apple infused syrup and tried that once and it is so good in these). The yogurt makes it so creamy too!
Love the idea of adding in syrup! Glad you liked this, Taylor!
I love this! Perfect day starter!
