Combine the best of both worlds and make a batch of margarita mimosas! Combine the best of both worlds and make a batch of margarita mimosas! Fresh orange and lime juice with tequila and your favorite bubbly!
These Margarita Mimosas are the perfect way to celebrate cinco de mayo, host a fun brunch, or just enjoy tequila and bubbles together!
I love a good weekend mimosa + I’ll always take a margarita, so why not combine the two, right? My only question: WHY DIDN’T I DO THIS SOONER?
These Margarita Mimosas are perfect for the weekend, and with Cinco de Mayo falling on a Sunday this year, I wanted a little bubbly because it makes me think of Sunday Brunch. You don’t have to make these marg mimosas for brunch, but it’s also the perfect excuse to go for it too. Basically, you do you.
What is a Margarita Mimosa?
This Margarita Mimosa is made with my favorite ingredients from each respective bevvy; tequila and fresh lime juice (no sour mix, sorry!) with orange juice and champagne. You can also use prosecco, if desired. Any bubbly will work for this margarita mimosa recipe!
How to make a Margarita Mimosa
- To a large pitcher, add orange juice, tequila, raw honey, and fresh lime juice.
- Stir to combine.
- Rim a glass with fresh lime juice. Dip in cinnamon/salt mixture.
- Add a generous amount of ice to glass. Pour orange juice and lime mixture into glass.
- Top with bubbly! Garnish with fresh orange and lime, if desired.
Can I make this as a mocktail?
Yes you can! To make this is a mocktail, omit the tequila and bubbly. Fresh orange juice, with lime juice and honey is incredibly refreshing on its own.
To get the same bubbly effect, which makes this margarita mimosa so fun, you can top with any sparkling water (such as La Croix, Perrier, Dasani Sparkling, etc) or club soda, instead of champagne or prosecco.
If you’d like to make this margarita mimosa by the glass instead of a pitcher for a party: to a glass or cocktail shaker, combine, 1/2 cup orange juice, 1/4 cup lime juice, 1 teaspoon raw honey, 1-ounce tequila. Stir to combine, or shake over ice in a shaker. Top with your favorite bubbly until glass is full. Garnish with orange and lime slices, if desired.
These are my favorite metal straws! So much better than a wilted paper straw.
I love a good salt rim, but for this margarita mimosa, I wanted a little sweet to play against the mimosa flavors. The recipe belows calls for a cinnamon and salt mix, but you can just use salt, or omit altogether, if you prefer. The cinnamon salt mix is perfect whether you’re making this drink as a margarita mimosa cocktail or mocktail.
