I am digging all of the food and drink holidays, this year. Like how last month was National Grilled Cheese Month, and this week on Saturday, May 9th, is National Moscato Day! To celebrate National Moscato Day, all of our Sunday Supper recipes today include and/or are perfectly paired with a Gallo Family Vineyards Moscato wine. Hooray!
Since National Moscato Day falls on a Saturday, I thought there was no better way to celebrate than with a proper brunch! If you follow me on Instagram, you may already know that brunch is pretty much my all time favorite meal, especially on weekends, when I don’t have to rush to be to work on time. I mean, but who doesn’t love a good brunch; made up with my favorite breakfast foods, that I can lazily graze whilst hanging with friends?
…oh, and a good cocktail doesn’t hurt either. While you’ll typically find me with a standard mimosa in hand at brunch on the weekend, I also feel like I’m wasting empty calories (and sugars) on the juice from said mimosas. And let’s be real, I’d much rather eat a tasty pastry, than fill up on drinks.
But then I decided I could have the best of both worlds, with a Mixed Berry Moscato Smoothie. Why not make a smoothie loaded with fresh berries, light Greek yogurt, and then blend in one of the three tasty varieties of Gallo Family Vineyards Moscato wine?! It may not happen often, but when I come up with a good idea, I feel like I really come up with a good idea, ya’ll.
This Mixed Berry Moscato Smoothie is so easy to make, that it doesn’t really need a proper recipe, with instructions (but don’t worry, I am still sharing a formal recipe, below), and not only will you love this smoothie, but so will your guests!
Gallo Family Vineyards offers three varieties of Moscato: White, Red, and Pink. Each offers something different, yet all are somehow my favorite. For today’s smoothie, I’m using a combo of mixed berries, and Gallo Family’s White Moscato. Since this White Moscato is light-bodied, the hints of peach, and citrus will just add to the fruity taste without overpowering the fresh berries.
If you’re hosting a brunch, you could always set out all three types of Moscato, with different fruits {berries, peaches, citrus, etc) and let your guests come up with their own smoothie concoctions!
